Is Kobe Bryant the new Gilbert Arenas?

Remember when Gilbert Arenas got served child support papers at half time? Click here if you don't. Well, the blogs are all abuzz that Kobe Bryant has walked down a similar path. Kobe is infamous for his philandering ways... And is also famous for the 4 million dollar ring he got for his wife as a consolation prize for his cheating  as an apology. He is now making headlines for apparent off the court behavior yet again. This video has surfaced on the internet:

And now, Terez Owens reports that people are speculating that the mysterious package he was handed in this video were child support papers:


Here’s what we’re being told, “Right around the time Tiger Woods was involved in his whole affair mess , a girl Kobe was mixed up with earlier in the year gave birth to his ‘alleged’ child…Kobe paid for her to live in Italy for the last year..She’s returned to the states and is now seeking legal rights.” This sounds plausible, Kobe has cheated on his wife Vanessa in the past…Haven’t these guys learned to keep their hands by their sides when exiting the court.

Oh jeez. I don't know how reliable the source is. It could be true, but it could just as easily be completely false... And "haven't these guys learned to keep their hands by their sides when exiting the court?" Who says that? Not for nothing, but you can be served anywhere, and it's just a weird thing to say. It's not like people are continually standing their trying to put things in to their hands. Most of the time its just screaming fans trying to get a high five. 

Recap: The Celtics are better than the Magic.

I was at the game today. Rondo had a monster game, and I was also really impressed by Perk. The Celtics started out slow, and had a rough first quarter. They recovered and thoroughly outplayed the Magic for the remaining three quarters, even though the refs sucked. Dwight Howard is annoying and whines a lot.

Being there when Marquis got injured was harrowing and really hard. It happened so fast, and all of the sudden he was just lying on the floor motionless, and 18,000 people were silent. I felt absolutely helpless, and shocked, and even a little bit nauseous. I also felt like I shouldn't even be there, and like I had no business to be sitting there watching him in his time of great pain and panic. Words can not describe my relief in learning that he's going to be okay. The Celtics played more inspired basketball after it happened... but after he was taken off of the court, it was hard for me to transition back in to watching the game. It felt wrong for me to get in to the game and cheer and be happy when he was in the hospital. Don't get me wrong, it's admirable that the Celtics kept their composure and won that game. I'm sure they thought of him while doing so. I don't personally know Marquis Daniels, but everyone who's a big fan of any team knows that it's an emotional thing. As an NBA fan, you watch your team 82 nights a year, and it's inevitable that you develop a connection to your team and it's players. I am thankful for all that Marquis has brought to this team in the past 2 years, and I wish him a speedy, safe recovery.

Oh man. Ish just got real with Gilbert Arenas and Laura Govan.

Something tells me he's not going to be inviting her to live with him and then kicking her out every weekend anymore. CBS Sports reports:

Orlando guard Gilbert Arenas was served with child support and custody papers as he left the court during halftime of the Magic’s game against Miami.
A process server stopped Arenas as he walked off the court during Thursday night’s loss to the Heat. The court documents, obtained by the Associated Press, were a California petition filed by Laura Mendoza Govan. She identified herself as his ex-girlfriend in the documents.
The petition seeks custody and child support for three children that Govan says Arenas fathered and has since “financially cut off.” She is also seeking support for another unborn child as well monthly support for the other children.
In the petition, she is seeking $109,000 in monthly support payments from Arenas and $1.3 million annually.

Why oh whyyy couldn't this have happened tomorrow, in Boston?! I'm really wondering what motivational speaker extraordinaire, head Coach Stan Van Gundy, had to say about this. The man has a natural grace about him, and a real way with words.

Laura Govan continues to act surprised that Gilbert Arenas is a loser... Even though he kicked her out of his house "every other weekend." FOR NINE YEARS!!

She also reveals that Arenas spends around 6,500 dollars a month to take care of his pet sharks. I mean come on... Is that really so unreasonable? I do that too. Am I supposed to be embarrassed or something?

The notes -- which appear to be her version of their life together -- reveal lots of details about their relationship. Arenas, 29, and Govan, 31, first met in 2002, when she was coaching basketball at a Golden State Warriors camp. In addition to their three young children (the fourth is due in June), they went through other pregnancies that ended in miscarriages. Along the way, there were lots of break-ups and make-ups.

Some of the meeting notes confirm what Arenas himself shared on his popular, now-defunct blog: "I've done kicked her out of my house almost every weekend, yet she's still here and she still believes in me," he wrote in 2008 in a post describing his marriage proposal to her. The notes tell an almost identical story: "The reason he proposed to her is that he put her out of the house every other weekend since they met and she stays with him, so something must be working."

There's a lot about how Arenas spent his money, based on her understanding of the household finances: "he states he makes 1.5 million per month," read the notes. Arenas lavished plenty on their Great Falls home, dropping $100,000 on landscaping, $5,000 a month for housekeepers, $675 "per car" washing, and $1 million for his backyard pool and grotto. His sharks are expensive: $5,000 a month to feed them and $1,500 for a keeper to drive from Columbus to take care of them. And yet they never had a nanny, Govan complains, according to the notes: "he would state 'you had them you watch them.' "

He was extravagant when it came to toys for the children -- ages 5, 4 and 2 -- buying a $60,000 train set and an $8,000 toy Mercedes-Benz electric car, and dropping between $30,000 and $40,000 during a shopping spree at FAO Schwartz. (Arenas also told this story on the blog, but didn't divulge the amount of money spent.)

The notes say Arenas gave Govan $8,000 a month for expenses; more than half went to pay the mortgage on a home she owns in California, and the rest went for groceries ($500-$600 a week from Peapod), doctors, classes and other expenses for the children. (source) 

Oy. If these notes were supposed to make me sympathize with her.... They don't. If you ask me, these two deserve each other. Sooo many problems here. First of all, to say that he kicked her out of his house every other weekend and she kept coming back so, "Something must be working," really doesn't sit well with me. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result... So it appears that they're both insane. Second of all, I personally don't think I'd have three kids with someone I wasn't married to, and who was kicking me out of their house every other weekend. Maybe that's just me. And lastly, he was halfway right about the nanny. He allegedly told her she had the kids, so she needed to watch them... But really, they had the kids- so both of them need to watch them. That does not necessarily mean a nanny. Believe it or not, millions of people around the world have three kids and find a way without a nanny. I think her problems are bigger than the fact that she has to watch her own kids. I don't mean to be insensitive, because this is a crappy, sad situation, and I'm sure it's hard for her... But come on. 

Hell hath no fury like a baby mama woman scorned. Did Laura Govan rob Gilbert Arenas?

Oh boy. So first Gilbert Arenas leaves town on a pregnant Laura Govan, and now she (allegedly) robs his Virginia home!

Now comes word from a source very close to Lauren, that she’s gone and done the unthinkable…She’s robbed his Great Falls, Virginia home, taking clothes, shoes, furniture, and even Gilbert’s fish tank and sharks. Laura has repeatedly asked Gilbert for money several times over the last month unsuccessfully. Laura has also been threatening to go to press over drug allegations involving Arenas dealing marijuana…Gilbert has yet to press charges and is trying to keep a lid on it..I doubt this will end amicably for either party.(source)

Did she or didn't she? You never know... But this would be quite the scandal. And sorry- but once again I fail to understand. If he wanted to leave her, why leave DC without saying anything to her? Why not say, "Hey, I've been traded to the Magic. We're over. Let's figure out child support. DEUCES!!!" Could he not have avoided this whole situation??

Nick Young helped hide Gilbert Arenas from his pregnant fiance for a month before Agent 0 was traded to Orlando. For this, I think that the Celtics need to make Nick Young have a crappy game tonight.

Here's what happened:

Gilbert Arenas is (or was? not sure) engaged to the pregnant mother of his 3 children, Laura Govan (her sister Gloria is on the VH1 reality show "Basketball Wives" and is engaged to Matt Barnes. Busy famiky). Arenas and Govan have been publicly off again, on again, even though Govan has gotten pregnant by him once a year for the past 4 years. Most recently, Govan was rumored to be having an affair with our very own SHAQ-TUS!! The scandal!!! Can you imagine?? Engaged to Gilbert Arenas and having an affair with Shaq!! It's too much. Anyway, Govan and Arenas deny that there was any truth to the affair rumors, even though emails between Govan and Shaq leaked. See below, and also check out the link to see the rest.

Arenas and Govan got engaged, Govan got pregnant again and everything was supposedly merry. 

....Until Arenas was traded to the Magic at Christmastime. Then it comes out that Arenas and Govan had been on nonspeaking terms since Thanksgiving, and Arenas had stopped supporting her financially... And by his extension of that, had also stopped providing money for his children. It turns out that Arenas had been living with teammate Nick Young from Thanksgiving until the time he was traded at Christmas. Govan claims that she was left with no money to buy food or Christmas gifts for her children.  Gilbert seems to think it's okay to act this way, because when he was traded, he made this statement to the Washington Post: 

He told The Post after his Dec. 20 debut with the Magic that he was so eager to move that he bought a same-day ticket to Florida the minute he'd heard about the trade: "I went to the airport and left. I didn't have a chance to say bye to anybody. I didn't even say bye to the kids. But Arenas also said that Washington would remain "in my heart" because "that's where I raised my kids and have my family")

Sir, your behavior is unacceptable... But so is Nick Young's, because he was the one harboring the fugitive. He should have told his friend to go home and face up to whatever messy situation he and Govan were in, instead of letting him hide out at his house. TISK TISK!!! So with that said, I hope that the Celtics are gunning for him tonight.
